Day 1 Arrival Glasgow
Arrival Edinburgh/Glasgow and transfer to Glasgow for dinner and overnight. If time permitting you will visit Glasgow which is considered one of Europe 's most exciting and beautiful destinations combining the energy and sophistication of any great international city. As a former UK City of Architecture and Design, Glasgow offers a range of fascinating building in various architectural styles. If time permitting you will visit The Glasgow School of Art , which is regarded as Mackintosh's architectural masterpiece where he gives full expression to his architectural ideals. The school was built in two phases - the East Wing (1897-1899) and the West Wing (1907-1909). Charles Rennie Mackintosh , architect, designer and artist is celebrated around the world as one of the most creative figures of the early 20th century. Mackintosh's contribution to modern architecture and design is unquestioned.
Day 2 Glasgow - Inverary - Isle of Islay
Depart Glasgow for Kennacraig via Inveraray for the afternoon ferry crossing to Isle of Islay . The ferry crossing (about 2 hours) is a mini cruise in its own right. Islay was the centre of Clan Donald power. Today , whisky distilling promotes the Island 's name worldwide. Islay is the most southerly of the Hebridean islands off the west coast of Scotland . Overnight at Isle of Islay .
Day 3 Isle of Islay
 
This morning you will visit the Laphroaig Distillery . Malting its own barley with locally cut peat containing a high content of moss and using water from the Kilbride Dam, Laphroaig use to be one of the most pungent whiskies available. You will visit Lagavullin Distillery beside the ruins of Dun Naomhaig Castle . Take a step back in time and experience the history and mystique of the Ardbeg distillery . Visitors can enjoy a personal guided tour and a dram of Ardbeg's extraordinary malt whisky. Transfer back to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Isle of Islay .
Day 4 Isle of Islay

This morning you will visit Bunnahabhain Distillery , which is the most Northerly of the Islay Distilleries. You will have a short stop at the Caol Ila Distillery . I the afternoon you will visit Kilchoman Distillery the first to be built on Islay for 124 years.   Kilchoman gives everyone the opportunity to see all that is best in the grass-roots traditions of whisky production - from barley field to bottling room. You will visitr Bruichladdich Distillery (try ‘ Brook-Laddie ') is a Gaelic reference to the ‘raised beach' upon which the distillery is sited, on the Hebridean Isle of Islay , on Scotland 's wild west coast. Built in 1881 by William Harvey and his brothers, it was closed down in 1994 as “surplus to requirements”. On 19th December 2000 it was acquired by a small group of private investors led by Mark Reynier. Transfer back to the hotel for dinner and overnight at Isle of Islay .

Day 5 Kennacrag – Glencoe – Fort William
Depart Islay for Fort William . You will drive through Glencoe, the dramatic and historic glen (valley), and scene of the 1692 massacre of part of the MacDonald clan by soldiers of King William. Its steep sided mountains offer superb walking and climbing. Red deer , wildcat, golden eagle and rare arctic plants can be seen among the breathtaking peaks and spectacular waterfalls. Your journey will continue via Loch Ness to Inverness Area. You will visit the new eco-friendly Glencoe Visitor Centre which houses fascinating exhibitions about the area, its human and natural history and the people who use and live near it. Continue to Glasgow . On route you will enjoy a short stop at Loch Lomond , the largest stretch of inland water in Britain , and framed by lovely mountain scenery. The landscape of this area has played a significant part in the history and literature of Scotland
You will visit B en Nevis Distillery established in 1825, is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland . The distillery is nestled at the foot of Britain 's highest mountain, Ben Nevis , which has a summit elevation of 4406 feet above sea level. This imposing mountain provides an impressive background to a traditional Scottish craft. Transfer to Hotel in Fort William for dinner and overnight at Fort William . .
Day 6 Fort William Loch Ness Inverness Area
Depart Fort William for Inverness Area. On route you will see Loch Ness , a striking 38.5 km long loch in the Great Glen (Southwest of Inverness) that forms part of the Caledonian Canal , linking Inverness with Fort William . Up to 213 m deep, the loch contains the largest volume of fresh water of any lake in the British Isles . Famous worldwide for its mysterious inhabitant, the Loch Ness Monster, it is also ideal for cruising and sailing. On the banks of the Loch you will visit Urquhart Castle is one of the largest castles in Scotland that fell into decay after 1689 and was blown up in 1692 to prevent it being occupied by Jacobites. Most of the existing remains date from the 16th century and include a tower. Continue to Inverness Area for dinner and over night at Inverness Area.
Day 7 Golf Day in Nairn

Nestling on the shores of the Moray Firth lies on of of Scotlands ' finest golf courses. The Nairn Golf Club was created on the shores of the Moray Firth from a Highland wilderness of whins and heather, and tests the talents of professional and amateur alike. Founded in 1887, it is now one of the best courses in Scotland . Dinner and overnight in Inverness Area

ALTERNATIVE OPTION: As an alternative, you have the option of a day trip to Orkney . Your coach picks you up from Inverness . Now settle back and enjoy the spectacular scenery of Scotland 's far north. You'll arrive at famous John O' Groats, the End of the road, where the Orkney ferry will be waiting to speed you across the Pentland Firth . In only 40 minutes you'll step ashore in Orkney where a coach will be waiting to drive you over the Famous Churchill Barriers to Kirkwall and the rest of your Orkney Tour. This tour visits some of the main sites of interest on the Orkney Islands . See Skara Brae, the Churchill Barriers, Scapa Flow , the Ring of Brodgar, the Standing Stones of Stenness, Stromness, the Italian Chapel and a short stop in Kirkwall with an opportunity to see Kirkwall 's magnificent 12th century cathedral. Day 10 Inverness - Pitlochry – Perthshire
Depart Inverness area for Perthshire. On route you will stop in Pitlochry, a charming Highland resort with elegant Victorian architecture. You will see the Dam and Fish Ladder built in order to allow the fish to continue their natural course upstream. You will enjoy the traditional small shops and the picturesque setting. You will visit Blair Castle , a white turreted baronial castle, the traditional seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. It is the last castle in Scotland to be besieged (1746). The present Duke of Atholl maintains the only private army in Europe , the Atholl Highlanders. You will visit Edradour Distillery, the smallest distillery in Scotland , established in 1825. Visitors will enjoy a tasting of a hand crafted single malt whisky, after the informative tour . Overnight at Perth .
Day 11 Perthshire day excursion

Today you will experience a day excursion to Perthshire. Just north of Perth , you will visit Dunkeld , an attractive village with a ruined Gothic cathedral on the banks of the River Tay. The National Trust for Scotland owns many houses dating from the rebuilding of the town in 1689 after the Battle of Dunkeld and have been carefully restored You will visit Scone Palace, the home of the Earl of Mansfield. Scone is a castellated palace, enlarged and embellished in 1803, incorporating the 16 th century and earlier palaces. The Moot Hill at Scone, known in the 8 th century and earlier, was the site of the famous Coronation Stone of Scone (The Stone of Destiny), brought there in the 9 th century by Kenneth MacAlpine, Kings of Scots. In 1296, the Stone was seized by the English and taken to Westminster Abbey. In 1997 the Stone was returned to Scotland and is now in Edinburgh Castle. You will visit the Famous Grouse Experience , which is the new and innovative visitor centre at the Glenturret Distillery, Scotland's oldest malt whisky distillery. This visitor centre is unique in that it explores the history and processes of both malt whisky and blended whisky. Overnight in Perthshire .

Day 12 Golf @ St Andrews

St Andrews Links is the Home of Golf, where the game evolved and where the spirit and traditions of golf have been safeguarded for over six centuries. A place of global importance, the Links is managed by St Andrews Links Trust. D inner and overnight in Perthshire

•  New Course. The New Course was constructed by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in 1895. It is a good, tight links of around 6,500 yards, characterised by small bunkers around the greens and to the side of the fairways. The rough is slight and only effects shots that stray into the mounds of heather and gorse, which sometimes block the surrounding fairways from view. Overnight and dinner in Fife

 

•  Jubliee Course: laid out in 1897, the course has been significantly upgraded in recent years with the “new” Jubilee being opened by Curtis Strange in 1989.Overnight and dinner in Fife

  • Eden Course was originally built in 1914 and is home of the Eden Tournament - a major annual amateur event. In 1988, alterations were made to the Eden by the highly respected golf course architect, Donald Steele. Day 13 Day excursion to The Trossachs

Depart fro a day excursion to the Trossachs, the forested hills, mountains and lochs that lie at the frontier between the Highlands and the Lowlands . You will visit Glengoyne Distillery , which was first licensed in 1833 and is Scotland 's most southerly Highland distillery and the closest to Glasgow . Nestling in the Campsie Hills, it draws water from a waterfall. The distillery produces Scotland 's only unpeated whisky. The tour includes a tasting. On route backto to Pershire you will visit Stirling, the ancient capital of Scotland, lies at the heart of the nation's history - its strategic position being recognised by many a friend and foe. The new town offers superb shopping options with many pubs, restaurants and cafes. If time permitting you will visit Stirling Castle is magnificent both in its situation on a commanding rocky outcrop and in its architecture. Of outstanding interest are the Great Hall and the Gatehouse of James IV, the marvellous palace of James V , the Chapel Royal remodelled by James VI, and the artillery fortifications of the 16th and 18th centuries. The castle was a favourite royal residence and the birthplace of James II in 1430.

Day 14 St Andrews – Edinburgh

Depart Perthshire for Edinburgh . You will stop in St Andrews, the home of the oldest university in Scotland and capital of golf with its famous and prestigious Old Course. The remains of the 12 th century cathedral, the largest in Scotland and the medieval layout of the town are still visible. You will also see the 13 th century castle overlooking the North Sea , where, during the Reformation, many evil deeds took place in the “Bottle Dungeon”. You will enjoy the traditional small shops and the beautiful sea views. You will visit the British Golf Museum , where you will encounter many famous professionals and amateurs of status. Touch screen videos allow visitors to look deeper into the lives of champioins and to the test their skills and knowledge of the game of golf. The 18th Hole, provides visitors with the opportunity to try out old clubs and balls on a mini-putting green. You will visit St Andrews Castle is a 13th century castle overlooking the North Sea, where, during the Reformation, many evil deeds took place in the "Bottle Dungeon". You will visit St Andrews Cathedral remains one of the largest cathedrals in Scotland and houses an outstanding collection of early Christian and medieval monuments. St. Rule's Tower in the precinct is part of the first church of the Augustinian canons at St. Andrews , built early in the 12th century.

 

Continue t hrough the quaint fishing villages of Crail, Anstruther, Largo and Elie, with traditional cottages and picturesque harbours. The shoreline of the Firth of Forth is dotted with some of the finest beaches in Britain and some of the most spectacular links golf courses. Continue to Edinburgh for dinner and overnight. You will cross the Forth Bridge , which is considered a masterpiece of engineering. Dinner and overnight in Edinburgh .

Day 15 Edinburgh

This morning we start off with a city tour of Edinburg h where you will appreciate the contrast between the 18th century Georgian " New Town" with its wide, tree lined streets and elegant squares and the medieval " Old Town ". The Royal Mile is the backbone of the old quarter, running from the Palace of Holyrood House to Edinburgh Castle .

 

Y ou will visit Edinburgh Castle which dominates the city from its 400 foot rock where you will see the Scottish crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, now back in Scotland where it belongs. You can also visit the private apartments of Mary Stuart and St Margaret's Chapel, the oldest building in the city, which dates back to the 11th century. The afternoon is free for you to explore Edinburgh at your leisure. You can visit one of the many art galleries or museums in the city centre or take advantage of the cosmopolitan shops in Princes Street and the more traditional shops on the Royal Mile.

•  Tonight you can visit a traditional Scottish Evening at a city centre 4-star hotel. Enjoy a Scottish banquet

with wine. On the menu you will enjoy the famous and beloved Scottish National dish Haggis. The Dinner is followed by laughter, songs, dance and music performed by some of Scotland 's most accomplished artists.

Day 16 North Berwick OR Gleneagles

This morning transfer to the Craigielaw Golf Club for a day of golf tuition. Craigielaw is situated just 20 miles east of Edinburgh amidst the glorious coastal scenery of East Lothian in Scotland .  At Eric Grandison Golf School you will receive personalised golf instructions from one of Europe 's leading teaching professionals, which suits all standards from the absolute beginner to the experienced player. This course offers morning classes, supervised play with a PGA Pro and with an option to play on the Craigielaw Golf Club. Transfer back to Edinburgh Area for dinner and overnight.

For those who are addicted to the game of golf, the Gleneagles Hotel golf resort offers the chance to play on the world's finest golf courses with its' three championship golf courses in Scotland. Dinner and overnight in Fife .

Day 17 Borders – Beer - Whisky

You will visit Traquair House near Peebles. Dating back to the 12 th century, this is said to be the oldest continuously inhabited house in Scotland . Twenty-seven Scottish and English monarchs have visited it, including Mary, Queen of Scots, of whom there are relics. William the Lion held court here in 1145. The well-known Bear Gates were closed in 1745, not to be reopened until the Stewarts should ascend the throne. Peter Maxwell Stuart, 20th Laird of Traquair, founded Traquair House Brewery in 1965 . Since his death in 1990 the brewery has been managed by his daughter Catherine Maxwell Stuart. In 1997, the brewery was formed into a limited company. The brewery was originally an 18th century domestic brewery producing beer for the house and estate workers. It was disused some time after 1800 but the vessels and equipment remained untouched until it was rediscovered in 1965.

This culinary tours wil end at the Glenkinchie Distillery for a final dram. Set in a tiny valley, it is the only remaining malt whisky distillery close to Edinburgh . You will see all aspects of traditional distilling craft, from malt storage to warehousing the whisky. The exhibition includes a scale model of a malt distillery made for the British Empire Exhibition of 1924. Transfer back to Edinburgh area for dinner and overnight

Day 18 Departure

Breakfast at hotel and transfer to Glasgow Airport . Depart for Australia or optional stay at Dubai .

Day 19 Dubai - Optional

Half day City tour of the ‘ World's Fastest Growing City ‘. Visit the camel race –track, Jumeirah Mosque and the old town – Bastakia. We also visit the Dubai Museum located in the 18 th Century Al Fahidi Fort. This is followed by a ride on the Abra ( water-taxi) to cross over to the Deira side and explore the Spice Market and the Gold Souq.

Day 20 Dubai - Optional

Full day for Shopping . Dubai is full of elegant shopping malls and is considered a shoppers paradise.

 

Evening. ( Optional extra ) Dinner Cruise on board the Arabian Dhow. Cruise along the glittering Dubai Creek. Experience the thrill of standing on the wooden deck and enjoy the breeze. Followed by the warm Arabian hospitality and delicious food. Overnight at Dubai .

Day 21 Dubai - Optional

Depart Dubai . A representative will meet you and transfer you to the Dubai Airport for your flights back to
